Formed in 2020 in the midst of the global pandemic, the Victoria Salon Band is an exciting and versatile ensemble, whose repertoire encompasses popular music from the last 200 years up to the present day. Comprising a core membership of five professional musicians, the ensemble gave its debut performances in Cardiff’s Victoria Park in the summer of 2020, at a time when all concert venues in the UK were closed.
From those early days, the band has quickly established itself to become of the of the most adaptable ensembles on the scene. Equally at home performing classical music, opera, swing era music, light music and modern classics, a Victoria Salon Band concert is sure to have something for everyone to enjoy.
Committed to their roots in the community, the band have organised performances in bandstands, parks and other public spaces in order to bring the joy of music to their audiences. In 2021, VSB will partner with Mid Wales Opera and Ensemble Cymru to deliver an online, streamed St David’s Day concert to community groups in Cardiff. Other future plans include a chamber version of Puccini’s opera La Boheme, scheduled for Winter 2021.
