Soprano Angharad Kathy Davies is a graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where she was generously supported by the the Mosawi Foundation, The Winship Foundation, Mario Lanza Education Trust, and Hartsheath Charitable Trust. During her postgraduate studies Angharad was awarded the Mansel Thomas Memorial Award and Worshipful Livery Company of Wales Music Award.
Opera roles have included Zerlina, Don Giovanni and Susanna, Le Nozze di Figaro (Opera’r Ddraig Scenes), Mrs Hildebrand and cover Mrs Anna Maurrant , Street Scene (RWCMD), Helena, A Midsummer Night’s Dream (RWCMD Opera scenes), Calli, Pandora’s Locker (OperaSonic/WNO/ RWCMD/ Sinfonia Cymru), and Josephine (HMS Pinafore, Messmate Opera). Angharad has appeared as a chorus member in SWAP’ra Opera Gala 2018, Le Damnation de Faust (St Endellion Festival), Semele (MidWales Opera/ RWCMD), Le Nozze di Figaro (RWCMD), and toured to the Isle of Skye with Island Opera.
In 2019, Angharad will join Mid Wales Opera’s chorus for Tosca and will be performing the role of Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro with Somerset Opera.
On the concert platform Angharad has appeared as a soloist with the British Sinfonietta, Ammonford Choral Society, Athenaeum Singers, Cwmbran Male Voice Choir, The Harry Ensemble, Reading Festival Chorus, and Cor Bro Ogwr. Angharad’s recent concert work includes We Three Tenors for Welsh Hearts, London Brel Song Academy Concert and the Worshipful Company of Paviors London recital.
Angharad performs regularly with her chamber music groups, the Hiraeth Ensemble, Felsen Trio and Altum Trio. Notable events have included recitals for The British-Irish Brexit Summit 2016, Welsh Governments St David Award’s Ceremony 2017 and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office International Leaders 2017.
